STYLE DIARY | GET THE SCOOP ON OUR EDITOR’S TOP STREET STYLE LOOKS FROM NYFW SS23

Oct 11, 2022 | Fashion, NYFW, Outfit

The first official NYFW out the gate post lockdown restrictions was one for the books. The energy the week-long event usually brings to the city was quadrupled this season as many of our fave fashion girlies and staunch native New York Fashion Week attendees were able to make it back to the Big Apple. It was amazing to see and feel the freedom and wild expression coming from our fave street stylers all the way to the designers and their collections. To say it was a “you had to be there” moment would be a right summation. And with such high excitement moving through the city, there’s no doubt that the street style seen on the backdrop of NYC was nothing short of amazing! Get into the looks I wore this season and a little BTS of the shows and events I attended this year.

DAY 1: THE LBD

I always like my first look of the season to start with a bang as it sets the tone for the rest of the week. This time around I opted for this black monochrome LBD look to do that job. It was perfect balance between simplicity and effectiveness that I always strive for when getting dressed. And I felt really confident wearing it as it was super comfortable but still stylish enough to hold it’s own at NYFW. There I say my fave look of the season? Maybe yes. But it definitely was the perfect little number to jumpstart the week and pass by events like Revolve Gallery which was amazing in and of itself.

DAY 2: MONOCHROME WITH A POP OF COLOR

On day two I stopped by the Attico Pop Up and played dress up in their stunning purses and heels which was entire experience! My monochrome white look was the perfect backdrop for the accessories to shine which made it a great outfit choice for that day. I wore a simple white tank with some contrast stitch baggy jeans keeping with the casual theme I put together for the week. To finish I added a hair clip worn as an ear cuff which gave the simple look a bit more dimension. Pro tip: never be afraid to play around with your accessories or pieces and their functions. You never know what you’ll come up with.

DAY 3: VELVET AND FEATHERS

We got a little more dressed up on day 3 or should I say night 3. I went to June79’s evening show at Dumbo House which called for a little luxe ensemble. I put together a square-neck tie-dye dress and paired it with a feather-lined jacket which added to the luxe vibe I was going for. To finish I slipped on a pair of strappy sandals and grabbed my Acne Distortion bag that I’ve been wearing nonstop.

DAY 4: BIZ AS USUAL

Day four was a bit of a world wind. I missed my only show but still managed to pull the looks and get some street style in because, you know, business as usual 😉. For this business casual but make it fashion week look, I played with a little bit of layering which was fun to get into. I layered a stripped men’s shirt over a bralette and paired it a slightly-oversized blazer. To complete the look, I opted for a cropped leather shorts and a pair of heels to make it more playful. And accessorized with some dark-lensed sunnies and my Acne Distortion bag.

DAY 5: MARLEY ELEVATED CASUAL

I love anything that involves Bob Marley and so for my last day of NYFW I opted for this casual Marley tee look to keep the vibes up after the marathon that was Fashion Week. I cuffed the sleeves on the tee and styled it with my fave pair of jeans. To give the look that elevated casual street style vibe, I paired it with these calf hair mules, sunnies and bejeweled pin earrings. And finished with my fave accessory of the week, my Acne Distortion bag. Pro tip: get you a bad that’s versatile enough to compliment just about every piece in your wardrobe but distinct and stylish enough to elevate any look. It’s really a game changer.
