Getting Reflective in Maxi Stripes

May 13, 2017 | Fashion, Outfit

I’m a firm believer that the way you dress affects your mood and reflects your state of mind. That’s why lately my style have been more flowy and unrestrictive. This slight change in style has come about from a change in my frame of mind. I’m learning to let go of control and be more open to the natural flow of life. Being in nature, specifically, Soundview Park teaches me how to do just that. In this park, everything comes together to create the perfect synergy. Even the man-made asphalt path seamlessly glides through the greenery. The winds blow in the ideal direction, each tree stands in its rightful position, and the blue skies compliment the lush landscapes. All the elements go hand in hand without competing, knowing that everything has its own place, purpose, and beauty.

This simple yet profound lesson can be applied to every aspect of life, even style. Lately, I’ve been implementing this lesson gained from nature into life and I’m finding more peace. I’m learning how to relax, breathe, and go again. I’m learning that everything will take form in due time. Just because things in life aren’t the way I envisioned it to be right now, don’t mean that it’s not right. Maybe it’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. With that in mind, I’m practicing to just simply be grateful for everything, the good and “the bad”, because they are both needed for me to grow. I encourage you to do the same.

I want to bring that vibe to this look book, which is why I opted for a flowy maxi dress. It’s easy to wear and gives the perfect combination of comfort plus high style impact. I especially adore the bold red stripes that remind me of a vintage popcorn bag because it makes this dress so special. This maxi will also be flattering on multiple body types, which is always a win for us women. To keep the ease of the look going, I paired it with some metallic platform sandals and gold hoops. Simple and effective.
