As fast as NYFW comes around is as fast as it goes. But that’s the fun in it. Something about the mad rush of the week-long event gives me a thrill. And even though I’m always beat by the end of each NYFW, the exciting memories of seeing the collections, running into my fave blogger babes, and stalking street style always makes it worth it. Just like that, we’ve wrapped up yet another season and here’s my synopsis of how it all went down in my world. Read to the end for a little surprise!
DAY ONE: NOON BY NOOR, LAURENCE & CHICO, TELFAR
Day one was my most jam-packed day as I attended three shows that were spread out throughout the day. First up was Noon by Noor who offered up minimal elegance for the fall. I loved all their neutral pieces that I can easily see slipping into anyone’s wardrobe. It was my first time attending their show and I can’t wait to see what they’re going to bring next season after experiencing this one. Next I headed over to Laurence & Chico who gave us a ball of fun! From the big oversized afros to the fuzzy runway looks, everything was exciting and a great way to start Fashion Week. I ended the day at Telfar’s “Country”. As usual, they skipped the usual runway shows and gave us a performance-based show at Irving Plaza which I always adore. I will say I expected the show to go a bit further with the “country” theme, but it was a great production nonetheless!
For my look, I wanted to keep it comfy and stylish because I knew it would be a long day. I opted for my new fave checkered Free people pants paired with a comfy Primark sweater. To pull it all together, I threw on (stole :)) my brother’s Mango suede jacket, some open toe heels, and statement earrings.
DAY 2: CHROMAT
My fave day of the week was Chromat day! I love going to this show because they always bring the best vibes, killer looks, and a ton of diversity. And not just the shallow version, the real diversity that celebrates all. Plus seeing my fellow Trini babe Shan Fernandez open the show doesn’t hurt. I’m so in love with their FW19 collection because of the neon colors, cutouts, and overall vibrancy. I especially adored how it was styled with the stunning tropical flowers and leaves that had the island girl in me was hype! Definitely have my eyes peeled for when this collection drops because too many pieces are on my wishlist!
I always enjoy wearing color to Chromat to match the vibrancy of the show. This season I wore an oversized & Other stories sweater paired with my stunning Rabens Saloner tie-die skirt (new trend alert). To accessorize, I finished the look with my red patent Missguided cuff heels, double-breasted coat, and my fave gold earrings at the moment.
DAY 4: ROMEO HUNTE
On day 4 I was smiling this big because I got to rest all of day 3. This day I came back energized and ready for Romeo Hunte. He gave us asymmetrical outwear and tons of fabric pairings that were unexpected but worked. The music at this show was also top notch and I’m going to need that playlist along with some of those coats.
For my day 4 look, I remixed my & Other Stories marigold velvet dress and turned it into a top. To keep it casual but elevated, I paired it with my Primark jeans, Marc Fisher kitten heels and my Mango faux fur coat.
DAY 5: DENNIS BASSO, YAJUN
I wrapped up my Fashion Week with Dennis Basso and Yajun. Dennis Basso gave us Upper West Side NY glamour with a series of luxe coats and furs that I adored! This monochrome leopard look stole my heart and I can’t stop imagining myself wearing it strutting around the city. One the other end of the spectrum was Yajun who presented deconstructed
For the last day I went all out for my NYFW finale look. I brought back out the faux fur to play and paired it with my stunning orange & Other Stories dress that has quickly become one of my favorite pieces in my closet at the moment. So much so that I’m gonna restyle it for an upcoming blog post. Stay tuned! To finish, I paired my look with some white boots to keep the bright color palette alive.
Every Fashion Week brings such a different experience and I really enjoyed this one because I got to spend more time with blogger friends and attend new shows that I hadn’t previously gone to. Of course, attending my regular shows were super fun too and interacting with you guys on Instagram made it even more special. But the best part of all is that I VLOGGED Fashion Week! I’m so excited to share footage with you guys in the coming days because you’ll get to see how it all really went down! Stay super close for my first ever Fashion Week vlog! And I promise it’ll be super fun and cute!
