Get The Look: Style Swap With Lains

Apr 12, 2018 | Fashion, Outfit

I can count on one hand how many people I can actually style swap with. One of those people happens to be my babe Alaina, possibly the only person I know that’s petite as me. When we became good friends in college we were hype that we had actually found another person to bond over #petitegirlproblems with. You know the type of problems where xs/small is sometimes too big. It’s a real issue in our own little worlds but the upside to all of this is I can steal all her goodies whenever I want to. Actually, I threaten to raid her closet all the time.

Luckily, I got to do just that for this style swap. We thought it would be fun to style each other in our signature every day, business casual, and night out “Kams looks” + “Lains looks.” Get into it and peep the video below for a recap of me dressed as Lains! Don’t forget to check out her YouTube channel  at Lains. to see how I styled her plus all of her fashion and lifestyle content!

THE EVERY DAY LOOK

Lains: Hey guys, it’s Lains popping in to narrate my outfit choices for Kams!

Let’s get into it! For this first outfit, the casual every day look, I love pairing high-waist bottoms with crop tops. It’s very casual and comfortable on the body. You can never go wrong with this combo especially if you’re a short girl like I am. You’ll always look well proportioned and put together. I am more of a comfort-loving, sneaker / non-heeled-boots type of person so pairing my white high top Converse is a must for making any outfit a bit more casual. I’m almost always cold so I like wearing light button-ups over outfits to add some layers that keep me warm! It was about 40 degrees out when this was photographed/ filmed so a coat was necessary! This teddy bear coat is extra warm, but it’s also a statement piece that adds a little oomph to any outfit! Lastly, I love small compact bags so I threw on this bright red beauty to add a pop of color to this casual look.

THE BUSINESS CASUAL LOOK

Lains: As you can probably already tell I love being comfortable, but looking put together and chic. Naturally, for the casual work look, I went in that direction. You can never go wrong with a turtleneck because it’s warm, chic, and comfortable! I paired this camel turtleneck with a pair of black and gray pinstriped trousers that makes any casual look more cool-girl chic. I tied the look all together with a super light denim duster coat. Clearly, I have a thing for denim. I love a pointed toe boot so these chunkier kitten heeled ones double as a comfortable yet dressier option for a work look.

THE NIGHT OUT LOOK

Lains: Kamara and I tend to dress pretty similarly when it comes to night out looks and would usually twin when going out when we were in college haha. Our formula for going out outfits is the combination of high-waisted bottoms with a cropped top. It’s comfortable plus it always makes you look put together like you tried. If you’re feeling like you need more pizzazz (lol) a dark lip is the way to go! My favorite going out top style is a surplice top. It’s the perfect top for any occasion since it can be dressed up or down and it always makes you look like you’ve put in extra effort. I paired this long-sleeved knit surplice crop top with a pair of high-waisted dark denim for a cool girl vibe. The only item that Kamara and I tend to differ on with going out outfits is shoes. By now we already know I’m all about comfort so I usually opt for a short heeled boot like these thigh high boots!

I hope you enjoyed our style swap! It was really fun to do and I can’t wait to hear what you think! Don’t forget to check out the video below for a recap of Kams styled as me, then head over to my YouTube channel at lains. to see how Kams styled me!
