I prefer personal style over trendiness any day but I must say the fall/winter trends 2018 have been super solid this season. There are so many that I’ve been loving and wearing and so many more that I’ve been longing to try this year that it was only a matter of time before I put together a list of the most outstanding ones. The best part is a huge chunk of them seem more like wardrobe staples rather than trends which makes it even more exciting to get into. If you’re anything like me and get hype about a good trend report follow below for six of the biggest trends of the season. I hope you find fresh ways to style your favorite ones or discover new ones to adore altogether!

ANIMAL AMBITION
Animal print has been omnipresent on social media as well as in the retail from fast fashion all the way to luxury. It’s arguably the biggest trend of the season and for good reason. Despite being a statement print, it’s fairly easy to style and, at this point, animal print (leopard print in particular) have become a staple for us fashion lovers. More than likely most of you won’t have to go out to shop this trend. Wear it as the focal piece of your outfit by flaunting a killer animal print blouse, pant, and coat. If you want to ease into the trend wear it as an accessory i.e. a belt, purse, scarf or headband. For those feeling extra bold, rock your fave animal print as a full-on monochrome look. You’ll be sure to turn some heads in the best possible way!

SLINKY SILKS
Possibly the most effortless of them all, silk is in easiest trend to slip into your wardrobe. It’s seasonless making it simple to transition your fave silk piece from summer to fall/ winter. Like animal print, silk is like a closet staple making it easy to pair with your existing wardrobe. For fall/ winter flaunt your slinky slip dress with a complimenting sweater and boots or layer a chunky knit over your silk skirt. For a more classic look, tuck your fave silk blouse into a pair of denim and effortlessly kill the game.

THE RUSTIC 70S
The past always finds a way of making it’s way back into our wardrobes. This season it’s all about that 70s rustic look. We are going back to the decade to borrow its deep chocolate hues and rustic oranges and browns. As one of the biggest fall/winter trends, it won’t be hard to get your fix of the fad. The most common places you’ll see the rustic 70s in all its glory are in knitwear and outwear. That also happens to be my fave way of styling it. Wear this trend by mixing the various 70s hues into one outfit. Try rocking a rustic camel tone blazer with a sleek chocolate turtleneck and jeans. Incorporate the trend into your wardrobe by wearing it as statement shoe also.

MINI-BAG MANIA
Put aside your jumbo bags for a little bit. Mini bags are the new thing. It’s the perfect little it accessory this season and the best part is it encourages us “over packers” (guilty) to carry less with us. Incorporate this trend by wearing a mini bag with an evening dress as the star accessory on a night out. For daytime, pair it with a casual look for a brunch or lunch date.

POWDER BLUES
You heard it here first, pastel powder blue is the new millennial pink. Just kidding, but its prevalence on and off the runways have led me to believe so. Let’s give my theory a little more time to see if it turns into truth. I love this trend because it adds such a refreshing color to the customary fall/winter palette which usually consists of darker hues. Wearing this color is also an easy way to make any look a little more interesting and out of the ordinary. Wear powder blue outerwear as I do in this look paired with a powder blue slogan tee, some wide leg corduroy trousers, and heels. The blue adds a fun contrast against the deep bottle green which makes the outfit a little more unexpected. You can also flaunt this blue as an accessory by wearing a powder blue beanie and scarf.

LUXE COLORED CORDUROY
What is fall/winter without corduroy right? Every season I get excited to see what different colored-corduroy pieces will end up in stores and this season a wide variety is available! There are cords for the bold in statement colors all the way to the staple navy blue/black options for those that like to stay classic. I would encourage you to go for a bolder choice this year though! Similar to this beautiful bottle green one I’m wearing for this look. You can pair your colored-cords with complimentary colors like chocolate brown or tan. Or go a little out of the box and pair it with another trend like powder blue like I did. Get into colored corduroy by wearing it as a suit with sneakers or heels. Or wear classic corduroy pants with some knitwear for a luxe look.
