Oct 27, 2018 | Capsule Wardrobe, Closet Essentials, Fashion, Personal Style, Style Tips

Tis the season to flaunt your fashion chops isn’t it? Us fashion lovers have this unspoken rule where we believe fall/ winter is the time to parade your best style. Maybe it’s because there are more layers to have fun and experiment with in the colder months. Or maybe it’s because we have an excuse to go shopping again. Either way curating a seasonal capsule wardrobe is always so exciting and inspiring. The anticaptaion to see how your style will evolve for the new season always brings about a thrill. And this year I want to help you get just as excited as I am. I’ve curated five fall/winter capsule wardrobe essentials to offer a few ideas of the must-have pieces needed in your wardrobe this season. Everything from staple knits to fun accessories is a part of the mix. Get inspired!

For this look I showcased some of the capsule wardrobe essentials every great seasonal wardrobe should have and explored the rustic 70s trend that’s having a serious moment this season. I layered my & Other Stories chocolate brown sweater over a rustic orange turtleneck to elevate the classic knit look. Continuing the Autuminal feel, I paired my green faux leather shorts for a little color-blocking action. To finish, I threw on my white boots to pop against the earthly color palette of the oufit.

COZY KNITS

There’s no fall/winter style without a stunning knit. These are the bread and butter of your seasonal wardobe and such a fun piece to style! The options are endless since you can find knits in just about every color, shape, size, and texture. Must-have knits are the classic turtleneck, the statement color sweater, and a body-hugging knit dress. These three styles will get you through the season in style and offer the versatility that enables these pieces to be worn time and time again.

POLISHED COATS + BLAZERS

One downside of fall/winter is that killer oufits are often times covered up by coats. But is it really a drawback if a flawless coat is the cover up? Not really. Winter outfits essentially consist of outwear so it’s always great to have a stunning coat. A polished coat or blazer is also the perfect finishing piece. To me you can’t get through winter without a leather jacket, a structured blazer, and (or) quality coat. A leather jacket is great for transitonal weather and nights out, a structured blazer is essential for looking polished with minimal effort, and a quality coat will take any outfit to the next level.

VERSATILE BOTTOMS

A solid collection of bottoms consisting of trousers, jeans, and skirts can take your wardrobe to another level. Think of these pieces as the anchors of each outfit that pull a look together. Quality bottoms make styling outfits easier because they can be paired with a simple top and the outfit will still be elevated. Plus, you can style one neutral bottom a million different ways. The holy grail of bottoms is a sleek trouser, a pair of perfect fitting jeans, and a cute skirt. Leather pants and skirts is also a great staple for the colder months.

SLEEK BOOTS + HEELS

There are a few fashion staples more satisfying than a good boot. Great shoes is another essential that evelates any outfit. It’s a finishing touch that could make or break a look so it’s always a good idea to make sure they’re on point. A classic over the knee boot, ankle boot, and sleek evening heel always does the trick for fall/winter. Over the knee’s are great for staying warm and stylish. Ankle boots complement both casual and elevated looks and you always need a chic evening heel for winter holiday events.

ELEVATED ACCESSORIES

No outfit is is complete without the right accessories. I like to use these embellishments to create the mood of an outfit. What’s exciting about winter accessories is there’s way more to dibble and dabble in. From classic scarves to luxe beanies there are tons of options to take your looks in any direction. For the colder months, a statement scarf is always fun. It gives any outfit a quirk and an exciting detail to catch the eye. You can also use them to make simpler outfits more vibrant. A unique but versatile belt is essential too. You can use it to belt your coats, blazers, and dresses and it can also elevate a classic jean look. I larger size black purse is also an absolute winter staple. It’s super versatile and can easily store other seasonal essentials like your larger scarves, gloves, and beanies.
